Living with diabetes has a daily impact on life. That’s why today, on World Diabetes Day, we’re pausing to ask: How can we all do more to support people living with diabetes?

One challenge often overlooked is stigma, the judgement or assumptions people make about diabetes. Judgment can hurt one’s health in ways many don’t realize. It shows up differently for everyone, but one thing is clear: when we listen and talk openly, we can understand more, empathize more and reduce preconceived notions and their impact.

This year we teamed up with Abbott and Libre to use {THE AND} as a conversation tool to explore stigma in a real and human way. We invited three people living with diabetes to sit down with someone close to them and have honest conversations.

This powerful series shines a light on what it feels like when there is a lack of understanding of how to live with and manage diabetes.  These stories remind us that change starts with listening.
